Light at the end of the tunnel for Nige!

20/02/2015. You may already know that Nige has been off games for some months now struggling with a problem with his right arm, meaning he is unable to drum at all, and was referred to a specialist by his GP. That appointment was yesterday and he’s now had some results from that, and the prognosis is good.

He needs an operation in his neck to replace a disc, which has been causing problems with the nerves in his arm. Apparently it’s a 2-3 hour operation but he will be expected to make a full recovery, after some recuperation and physio to rebuild the muscles in his arm.

So now he must wait for an appointment for the operation, which may not be for 2 months unless he gets a cancellation. We have all been very touched by all the messages of support for Nige over the last few months, thank you all. At last there’s light at the end of the tunnel! We’d also like to thank all the guys who have stood in to keep the band on the road in Nige’s enforced absence!

“If you have not already seen any of Jaden’s guitars before then I urge you to pop over to his facebook page and check out his master craftsmanship. These guitar’s truly are works of art! I am very proud to be working with such a top bloke with a talent like no other. I can not wait to see what he creates, excited doesn’t even begin to cover it!

“I am really looking forward to working with Jaden, and discovering what the future holds.

“Meanwhile, in other exciting news….if you would like to come and show your support and see me play with my awesome band Morpheus Rising, come and see us on the U.K part of the Graham Bonnet tour from the 1st of December to the 5th at an O2 venue near you! Or you you could pop over to the Morpheus website and purchase a copy of either (or both!) of our studio albums. Not to be missed!

“Also, (shameless self promotion here ;-p) you can also check out some of my playing on my youtube channel where I have uploaded a few videos from previous years (just a bit of fun really), with the aim being to use my channel as a teaching platform for guitar lessons etc… which for those of you who didn’t already know, is what I do full time alongside session and dep work. “So with all that said, just thought you’d like to know! Here’s to the future! Cheers everyone! :-)”

Acoustic show in Histon, Cambridge

24/11/2014. Following on from a cracking night rocking York with Electric Mary, we had a fantastic but somewhat quieter night at The Boot in Histon, Cambridge last Saturday, playing a special acoustic show for Hazel Woods. Hazel pledged as part of the Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for Eximius Humanus. It was a great challenge to re-imagine some of the MR stuff for acoustic guitars.

Thanks to everyone who came down and were part of a very special evening, and to the staff at the Boot. But an extra special thanks to Hazel and Mark and family for their amazing hospitality and support!

Next, we’re gearing up for the tour with Graham Bonnet, hope to see you on the road next week!

This tour will see a slightly different line up, with Craig Hill depping for the injured Nigel Durham, who is currently off games and nursing a shoulder injury, and the irrepressible Yatim Halimi (Panic Room, Steve Rothery Band) filling in for Andy Smith on bass whose Mostly Autumn commitments mean he is unavailable for the tour.

Eximius Humanus – Two great reviews!

01/03/2014. Two great blogger reviews! Firstly of the album, from Ian Massey on his blog “Not Quite Music Journalism”. “Behind a stunning Dylan Thompson cover, comes an album that builds on the previous release…” “…Eximius Humanus is not a perfect album. It is, however, a very good one and one which I suspect will be featuring in my top ten at the end of the year.” Read the whole review.

Secondly, a review of the launch gig from Tim Hall on his blog “Where Worlds Collide”. “With new drummer Nigel Durham they’ve gone up another gear as a live band.” Read the whole review.

Eximius Humanus has left the building

24/02/2014. Your Kickstarter and pre-orders have been shipped today. Depending on where you are in the world, they should start arriving with you guys tomorrow!

Oh what a night! – Bilston Robin 2 Album Launch

24/02/2014. WOW! We are speechless. Really. Such an amazing night for us, and I am sure we will all talk about this for ages!

Firstly, as a band, we want to thank our brother Nigel Durham for showing utter true grit and sailing us through this important night. He has been fighting a particularly nasty bout of flu for a few days, and yet he powered us through to the end in glorious style, and as any of you who were at the show will know, he spent every last ounce of energy getting us there! – true star!

Luna Rossa were everything we knew they would be – awe-inspiring, captivating, and enchanting – story-telling and song-craft personified – Thank you Anne-Marie and Jonathan Edwards, we love ya ! (as always)

I STILL try to find the right words to express how we feel regarding the faith, support, and friendship that we feel from our fans, but I feel that I fall short every time – old fans and new, you really power us on! This album only came to life thanks to that very same faith, support, and friendship. Our Morpheus Rising family surrounded us and backed us all the way, so that here we are – “EXIMIUS HUMANUS”!. It’s Latin for “Super Human”, and although it may be titled as such as a reflection of its content, it is also a title, and an album, for you – Super Humans x

Si \m/

EXIMIUS HUMANUS has arrived

21/02/2014. It has arrived! We have finally got our hands on the CD copies of Eximius Humanus!

Much later than we had planned but just in time for the launch, it looks absolutely fabulous. Dylan Thompson’s artwork is outstanding! Dylan’s work was featured on the first album, Let The Sleeper Awake, but he’s really outdone himself here!

Kickstarter copies and Pre-orders will be shipped on Monday – we’ll be packing jiffy bags and signing CDs till all hours to make that happen!

We also now have stock of the album T shirt – with the album cover on the front and MR text logo and album title on the back, in S, M, L and XL. Both are available in the shop page – click here

Kickstarter Hacked

21/02/2014. Kickstarter announced in the news this week that they had been the victim of a hacker and that security had been breached. They believe that password and email information had been stolen and recommend that anyone who uses the site should change their password at Kickstarter and anywhere else that password is used.

We have changed all our passwords as a precaution and would strongly recommend that you do to if you haven’t done so already if you were part of our Kickstarter campaign last year.

White Logo Hoodies Now Available

09/02/2014. It’s been a great weekend rehearsing ahead of the Eximius Humanus album launch at the Robin 2 in Bilston in a couple of weeks. It’s been great to get cracking on preparing the new songs for live shows, and running through some old favourites from Let The Sleeper Awake. Nige’s new Crush kit sounds fantastic.

We now have hoodies available in the Shop. We’ve been asked about getting hoodies for some time, and we’ve now done just that. They feature the white Winged Man logo on the front, and the Morpheus Rising text logo on the back.

Be the first among your friends to get your hands on one of these! Just the job for this weather!

Nige signs with Crush Drums

29/01/2014. Nigel Durham has recently become an endorsee for Crush Drums, and has just taken delivery of his new kit. Looks great – and we can’t wait to put it through it’s paces at rehearsals! We’ll post some pics when we do!!

First review of Eximius Humanus…

28/01/2014. The first review of the new album we’ve seen is right here www.kalyr.com. And it’s a great review too – phew! Thanks Kalyr!

Pre-Sales goes live, plus gig news…

24/01/2014. It’s been pretty hectic here at MRHQ over recent weeks, so we’ve been a bit quiet in terms of posts, but we’ve some stuff to announce today…

First up, the pre-sales of EXIMIUS HUMANUS are now live! You can order it right here on the website – hit the music tab at the top of the page or click here http://music.morpheusrising.co.uk. The CDs have taken a little longer to prepare than we’d though so they are currently in production, but as we did with LTSA, if you order the CD from us, you get the download immediately so you’ve got that to be going on with…We’ll send them out as soon as we get them.

Kickstarter folks should have had an email this morning with a link to download the album, so if you’ve not had that yet, check your spam folders and get in touch if it’s not there!

There’s gig news too, with two shows to announce. So new we’ve not had time to add them to the gig list yet…

Firstly, Saturday March 8 we will be playing a double header show with our good friends Also Eden at Birmingham Asylum 2. It’s been a while since we last played a show with AE, and we’re looking forward to catching up with the guys. This will be a great night, and good to get back to Birmingham too.

Then the following weekend, Sunday March 16, we’ll be at Fibbers in York, supporting the one and only Graham Bonnet on his Catch The Rainbow tour. Home show for us too, so make sure you get out for this one! Been a while since we played Fibbers!

More news on both those events nearer the time, and we’ll be setting up Facebook events for both. Details on the tour page soon.

Production is underway!

06/12/2013. After two days of drum work by the astonishing Nigel “Captain Quantize” Durham, we’re now into final production work on the new album, Eximius Humanus. Initial rough mix from last night of Bending Light sounds great this morning, the amazing Mr Spence is doing a fantastic job! Really excited to start seeing this all come together at last!

Great night in Bilston with Panic Room

04/12/2013. We had a great night in Bilston with Panic Room on Sunday night at the Robin 2. We’ve supported Panic Room several times there now for their now traditional Christmas show – and earlier this year in July too when Pete was on double duties depping on guitar with Panic Room too.

The Robin is a great venue and it’s always a great atmosphere and a wonderful crowd. Many thanks to Bill the sound man and all the venue staff, and to everyone who came out on a positively arctic evening – and to Panic Room for having us back yet again! Easy night for Pete this time too – just the one gig to play. Looking forward to the album launch there in February!

So, this week sees us at Fairview in Hull for (hopefully) the last few sessions to complete the new album. Can’t wait to see this all start to come together. Nige is on duty first and then we’re into production and mixing…

Bilston Robin 2 with Panic Room this weekend!

30/11/2013. We’re taking a little break from work on the new album this weekend for the now traditional Panic Room show at the Robin 2 in Bilston. We’ll be supporting Panic Room again this year – and we’re rehearsing today for that. It gets pretty intense as the things come together for an album, so we’re really looking forward to this!

It’s always been a good show this one, we’ve supported Panic Room on their Christmas show at Bilston for the last few years, so if you can make it this is one not to miss… All the info is here!

T shirts back in stock

18/11/2013. We have fresh stock of the 2013 White Logo T shirts available in the shop, and stock is available right now in S, M, L and XL. If you’ve been holding out for one of these, now is the time before they run out again!

The kickstarter privilege release will be 24th December 2013, digital download and CD pre-order release will be January 24th 2014, and general release will be 23rd February 2014.

To coincide with this release date, we are also pleased to announce that we will be holding our album launch at the The Robin 2 Bilston, also on 23rd Feb 2014. We will be playing your MR favourites, and of course, performing tracks from EXIMIUS HUMANUS live!

We can also announce that our good friends, the wonderfully talented LUNA ROSSA will be supporting us to make it a night to remember!

Panic Room Support at Bilston Confirmed

13/10/2013. We are also able to announce this weekend that we’ll be at the Robin 2 in Bilston again with Panic Room for the now traditional Panic Room Christmas show on Sunday December 1st. PR were kind enough to ask us back for a third year. We’re looking forward to that – this will be a great night at a fantastic venue with great friends. Don’t miss this one if you’re anywhere near Bilston! More details here!

Another amazing week at MRHQ

13/10/2013. Well it was quite a week last week at MRHQ. It’s taken a couple of days to get our heads round it and once again, it’s all because of the amazing support from you, the MR fan family.

First of all, the Kickstarter crowd funding campaign were running reached its deadline at lunchtime last Tuesday (October 8th). We were asking for £6,000, but the final total was not just better than that, but way better than that. All told, the total reached £7,432, which is absolutely outstanding. Read more…

Friday night (October 11th) saw us head over to Selby to the Riverside to support Tygers Of Pan Tang. Tygers were part of the original NWoBHM movement way back when, alongside Maiden and Saxon and all those guys. We had a very short slot – just 30 minutes – to leave time for four bands – Thirteen16, Hellion Rising, Morpheus Rising and the headliners Tygers Of Pan Tang. It was also Nige’s debut show, and what a show! We had a ball, and managed to get three of the new songs into the set too! Nige did an outstanding job – well done mate, welcome aboard!

£7,432 in 30 days – Thank you!

08/10/2013. Outstanding! Not just funded but 123% funded! The clock stopped on the Kickstarter project today at 12:57pm UK time, with a grand total of £7,432 pledged towards our £6,000 goal, with the final pledge just moments before the deadline – just as the first was just moments after we pressed “go” a month back! Kickstarter Update 6: The end is nigh! 115% and counting

05/10/2013. Is it really almost 30 days since we pushed the big green button and launched this project? How did that happen? We’re into the final weekend of the Kickstarter campaign this weekend, and we’re still going strong! Read more…

Kickstarter Update 5. You did it! 104% and counting…

29/09/2013. It’s official! We have reached the Kickstarter target! In fact, we’ve passed it. So as of early yesterday evening, funding for the new album is going to happen.

The way Kickstarter works is that unless the funding target is reached, it doesn’t happen, nobody pays anything and the project doesn’t get any money. But you guys have smashed that target – we passed the £6000 target yesterday evening, and more has come in since – the total is currently £6263, that’s 104%. Read More…

Kickstarter Update 4. Two weeks to go… Nearly there!

Well, we’re half way there in terms of time – 15 days into this project and we’re less than £750 to go! Amazing! Thanks for everything you’ve done and pledged already, just another couple of weeks and we’ll stop pestering you. Keep spreading the word…

There’ll be more images from the tour over coming weeks. Check out the Gallery here!

We’ve also uploaded a short video insight into life on the road heading home after the last show here, enjoy!

What a fantastic tour!

15/07/2013. So the tour is over and we’re already missing our Panic Room buddies. It’s been a great tour taking us to Derby, York, Norwich, London, Bilston and Manchester and we need to thank some people for making it all happen.

First of all, we need to thank Panic Room for having us along. These guys are so welcoming and helpful, making sure we had time to soundcheck every night, even helping load the gear too. Good eggs, the lot of them. Anne-Marie Helder, Jonathan Edwards, Yatim Halimi and Gavin Griffiths, we love you guys! We had a blast and we’d do it all again in a heartbeat!

Next up, Henry “yeah baby” Rogers. What can we say? He stepped in and drove the shows with some amazing drumming! Thanks, Hen, you’re a star!

Our “Spare Andy”, Andy Gooby, stood in for the first two shows in Derby and York, as Andy Smith was away on Mostly Autumn duties. Thank you Andy for your sterling work and two great performances.

Somehow, Sophie Goodhall managed to survive life on the road with a bunch of musicians, she was there every night making sure we had enough money for fuel to get to the next show or back home by selling you the merch… Thank you Sophie (please don’t send us the bill for the therapy!).

Not forgetting the venue staff, sound and lighting engineers who sorted out monitors, in ear mixes, places to store empty cases, found lost stuff… and generally made the magic happen…

…for you guys. Which is why we were all there in the first place. You came out despite the glorious weather and sweltering venues to support Panic Room and ourselves and we appreciate that. You bought the merch, you cheered in the right places and without you we couldn’t have done any of it. Seriously, thank you. You guys Rock.

We look forward to seeing you all again down the front soon.

Final two shows of the tour…

10/07/2013. We’ll be heading off again this weekend for two final shows to finish up the Panic Room SKIN tour. And if last weekend was anything to go by, they’ll be a two fantastic nights – possibly even hotter than last weekend? Phew what a scorcher!

First, on Friday night, we head to The Robin 2 in Bilston, which we’ve played twice before with the Panics. It’s always been a fabulous night there, and with both bands on top form, we’re expecting more of the same.

And the last night of the tour will be at Sound Control Manchester, not a gig we’ve done before but if the crowd last time we played in Manchester was anything to go by, it’ll be a cracking night. This is the last chance to catch us on the tour… Be sure not to miss it!

Check out the tour page for all the info!

A great and very hot weekend in Norwich and London

08/07/2013. What a fantastic weekend. And what about that weather! We headed off last weekend for the middle of three pairs of gigs supporting Panic Room on their SKIN tour, and what a great time we were in for!

First up was Norwich Arts Centre, not a venue we’ve played before but one we’d love to visit again, an old church, full of character! Then on Saturday, it was off into the capital to play the Garage in Islington, this time with Touchstone on the bill as well.

Despite the perfect “stay at home and have a barbecue” weather, you turned out in force to support live music, and both MR and Panic Room played to large and enthusiastic crowds. We had a ball! Thank you all for turning out and putting off the barbecue for a night! We appreciate it! You guys Rock! Thanks also to the venue staff, sound engineers and lighting techs!

So next weekend we’ll be in Bilston at the Robin 2 on Friday and the final show of the tour, Sound Control in Manchester on Saturday! Looking forward to two more amazing nights… Can’t wait. See you down the front!

All the tour information is right here!

York Rocked

01/07/2013. Another great night at the Duchess in York Panic Room on their SKIN tour, despite a couple of technical gremlins which snuck in between soundcheck and showtime! Great to see so many familiar faces at the front – and some new ones, too!

Next up, a few days to recharge the batteries before next weekend’s outing to Norwich Arts Centre and The Garage in London – particularly Pete who, apart from playing with both Panic Room and Morpheus Rising, was on driving duties too!

Check out the tourdate info here!

Great Night in Derby

29/06/2013. A fantastic opening night in Derby last night supporting Panic Room on their Summer SKIN tour 2013.

Great work too from Henry Rogers who’s drumming with us on this tour and Andy Gooby who’s covering for Andy Smith this weekend who’s away on bass duties with Mostly Autumn in the Netherlands. These guys ROCK!

Tonight, more of the same at the Duchess in York – home gig for us – but if you can’t make this one, you can still catch us in Norwich and London next weekend, and in Bilston and Manchester the following weekend. All the tourdate info is right here.

Sneak Preview – Mega City One

11/05/2013. Ladies and Gents, as promised, here is a sneak preview of a track we’re working on for the as yet untitled second album. It’s not in it’s finished form yet, but we wanted to give you an feel for what we’re up to…

Important Announcement from MRHQ

05/05/2013. Sadly, we have to announce that Gibbo and Morpheus Rising have agreed to part company and he will no longer be part of MR..

Gibbo has been with us from the start, and his drumming has been an intrinsic part of Morpheus Rising from the very beginning, both live and recorded. Behind the scenes, Gibbo has contributed a huge amount of time and hard work to the band and we are sorry to see him go. We will miss him and wish him all the best in the future.

We will be joined for the summer tourdates by Henry Rogers, who many will know as sticksman with DeeExpus, Touchstone and Nerve Toy Trio. We’re very grateful to Henry for stepping in to fill the vacancy, and look forward to rehearsals for the tour with Panic Room.

Great night at the Duchess York

17/03/2013. Another great night at the Duchess on Friday night, despite a few technical gremlins.

Thanks to the staff at the venue for all their help, to BastRad for another great support slot and for filling that spot at short notice, and specially to you guys for coming from all over the place to be there and show your support – as far afield as Leicester, Cheltenham and even Cambridge! You guys are amazing! You Rock!

Looking forward now to the tour with Panic Room in June and July, and then Cornerstone in August… can’t wait!

MR Beanie Hats

12/03/2013. You know that we care about you guys, so bearing that in mind and given the current cold weather, we have ordered up some Morpheus Rising beanie hats for you…

So far we have limited numbers, so initially they’re only available at the show on Friday at the Duchess in York. After that, we should have more and we’ll make them available on a Morpheus Rising website near you…

Stay warm with MR on your head!

BastRad at York Duchess

10/03/2013. Sadly, due to circumstances beyond their control, Also Eden have had to cancel their appearance at the Duchess with us next Friday. We will, instead, be joined once again by the fabulous BastRad, who have stepped into the breach to fill the slot.

A great night in Bilston

03/12/2012. What a great night last night with Panic Room and Howard Sinclair at The Robin 2 in Bilston last night.

It was the final night of Panic Room’s S K I N tour in support of their fabulous new album. And what a great night to round off the year. Pete was even dragged kicking and screaming back onstage to jam with the Panics in the encores!

We had an absolute ball, and it more than made up for the disappointment of losing the Darlington show on Saturday after the venue failed. Many many thanks to everyone at the venue and of course everyone who came down to see the show and make it such a great night

We’ll be busy working on the new material and shooting more footage for the new video in the coming weeks… rest assured, we’ll keep you posted here and on Facebook!

More shooting for Gypsy King

20/11/2012. Another session shooting footage for the Gypsy King video with Dave Thorpe and Flash Frame Productions.

We’re really excited about how this is all going to turn out, and from what we’ve seen so far it’s going to look amazing. Can’t wait to see the final product!

The Borderline and The Snooty Fox Rocked!

12/11/2012. Wow, what a great weekend! Two fantastic shows. Thanks to everyone who came to see us at the Borderline and The Snooty Fox – and to everyone who watched online! And of course to the amazing Panic Room who made us feel so welcome again! You guys all Rock!

We’re looking forward to hooking up with Panic Room again at the other end of their S K I N tour for the final two shows at the Hub in Darlington and the Robin 2 in Bilston again on 1st and 2nd December. Last year’s Bilston show was a scream, be there or miss out…

Dave’s great to work with and we can’t wait to see the final result! Watch this space, we’ll keep you posted!

Now that we’re all back on the same continent again, we’re gearing up for some more live dates – supporting the superb Panic Room touring in support of the fabulous new album S K I N – we really do recommend you check it out.

These are the first night and the last two nights of Panic Room’s UK tour, and will mark a return to the Robin 2 in Bilston, where we supported them last December.

We’re really excited about these dates. They will be great nights if last year’s Bilston show was anything to go by!

Hull Ringside

25/07/2012 Great night last Friday at the Ringside in Hull, despite a couple of technical gremlins.

Update: Diamond Head show cancelled

04/07/2012. We’ve just heard from Fibbers and Diamond Head. Unfortunately, tonight’s show in York has been cancelled. DH’s drummer Karl Wilcox is not well enough to play tonight, and despite attempts to reschedule and or find a dep for tonight, it just wasn’t to be.

We’re obviously disappointed not to be playing tonight, but we wish Karl a full and speedy recovery, and look forward to a rescheduled opportunity to play with Diamond Head when schedules allow. Karl’s health must come first!

Fibbers tell us that refunds will be available through the usual channels.

Diamond Head’s drummer has hospital treatment

03/07/2012. We’ve just heard that tonight’s Diamond Head show in Islington has been cancelled as drummer Karl Wilcox has been taken ill and has had hospital treatment today.

Diamond Head’s Facebook status says “Following the cancellation of the show in London tonight, we can now update you.

“Karl has had hospital treatment today and should be fit again by tomorrow morning.
We hope to go ahead with the York show tomorrow, but please check with the venue before setting out.

“The show on Thursday 5th July at Wolverhampton, and the remainder of the tour will go ahead as planned.”

We would like to wish Karl a very speedy recovery and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for tomorrow’s Fibbers show in York. Please check with Fibbers before travelling for this show.

Check out Paul’s review here.

A word from Si

12/05/2012. I know that some people travelled quite a fair amount of miles to see us in York last night, so a HUGE thanks to them for their loyalty and support.

Also, thanks to the now regular faces AND all the new ones that are catching on! – we sold many more albums last night which means we are still finding new fans in our hometown, which is brilliant.

Thanks also have to be given to the Duchess and all the staff for providing a professional and smooth event. Callum was his usual excellent self on sound, and mathew worked the lights a treat!

It is always a pleasure to play to people who “get” where we are coming from, and thats what drives us on, so, once again, thanks! – Si.

We’re honoured and very excited to be one of the bands to support them on only a handful of UK dates over the summer. Don’t miss this one, this is going to be an amazing night! More gig info here.

1500 miles and still rocking…

22/01/2012. The Morpheus Rising circus takes a couple of days off now after nine shows, one or two KFCs, far too many “milkshakes” and a broken bass string.

Time to recharge the batteries, catch up with what’s been going on at MRHQ, restring some guitars, send out the CD orders, and record a radio interview before heading to Hull on 25th to start the final leg of the tour which has seen us clock up 1500 miles so far across England, Scotland and Wales.

We’re having a ball, and it looks like you guys are too, from what you tell us and the posts on Facebook. So come and join us in Hull, Sheffield, Manchester or York for the final shows of this adventure! It’s going to ROCK!

Here’s to the next 1000 miles, see you on the road!

They are a truly lovely bunch of people who made us feel so welcome.

So to all the Panics a huge heartfelt thank you. And additionally, thank you to everyone who came down to the gig and gave us such a warm welcome, we had a great night and look farward to seeing you again – hopefully some this weekend in York, and again in January on the tour. You rock!

We’ve heard the tracks as they will be on the CD, we’ve seen all the artwork… but there’s nothing quite like seeing the actual CD in your hands… All on schedule for the launch at Fibbers in York on December 9th. We can hardly wait!

Let The Sleeper AwakeThe moment has arrived…

10/11/2011. At last, we can finally reveal details of what we’ve been working on for the last few months… The new album, Let The Sleeper Awake, will be available from December 9th!

More than that, there’s a home town Launch Party show at York Fibbers, with the amazing Also Eden on the bill too to help us celebrate. Tickets are available here in advance, or catch one of us out and about if you can!

Let The Sleeper Awake has been a labour of love for us over the recent months, trying to capture something of the band’s live performance into something studio based. The album features some firm favourites from the live show, such as Lord Of The North and Those Who Watch, alongside new tracks like the title track Let The Sleeper Awake and Daylight…

It’s been great fun and hard work, taken lots of coffee, several chocolate biscuits and one or two beers to achieve, but finally, it’s almost finished. One or two tweaks here and there just to finish it off, but essentially it’s done, and we’re think it’s something very special. We’re very very pleased with it, and we really hope you’ll enjoy it just a fraction as much as we have creating it.

There’s a whole bunch of folks we need to thank for helping along the way, but most important at this point is to thank all of you who have supported us over the years, helped us keep the faith and encouraged us to push just a little harder. Without you, this wouldn’t have happened. You guys ROCK!

Thank you.

Panic Room date confirmed

01/11/2010. We’re very pleased to announce that we will be supporting the amazing Panic Room at the Robin 2 in Bilston on December 4th. Anne-Marie Helder has been a great friend of the band since the very beginnings, and we’re really looking forward to this opportunity to work with Panic Room at long last. This is really going to be a fabulous night with Panic Room, Sarah Dixon and Morpheus Rising on one bill… Can’t wait.

We have more exciting news and dates to announce very soon, so keep an eye on this news feed and the tourdates page for all the latest!

Kingston and Swindon dates with Also Eden

31/10/2011. Many many thanks to Rich Harding and everyone at Also Eden, we had an absolute blast supporting them at The Peel in Kingston Upon Thames and Swindon 12 Bar. A big thank you to Sarah too for all her help. An honourable mention should also go to Liam at the 12 bar for a fantastic welcome despite losing repeatedly to Morpheus Rising at pool…

York Guitar Weekend

16/10/2011. We had a great time at Fibbers last night as part of York Guitar Weekend. Many thanks to everyone who put the whole event together, particularly Phil, Lynne and all at MOR, Tim and all the staff at Fibbers – and everybody who came down to support the bands and raise money for some great local charities!

York Guitar Weekend

We’ll be onstage at Fibbers for a quick half hour taster set at 6:30PM – with bands all day from 11AM!! This will be a great day – hope to see you there.

Oh yes, and it’s free entry too!

Gallery update

11/10/2011. We’ve just updated the gallery with some pictures from last weekend’s gig at York Duchess. Many thanks to Jon Hudson for the photos! Click here for the gallery.

Great night at the Duchess.

10/10/2011. York Duchess, Saturday night – what a great night! Supports from Cryptic Age and Lost Effect and a great crowd who more than made up for the miserable cold and drizzly night all made for a fantastic show. We’d been on a video shoot all day which we can’t wait to see the footage from, so it was great to get back into the warm and even better to get back onstage again… feels like an age since Cambridge!

Many thanks to everyone who came down to see the show – and thanks for braving the weather. Here’s a review from Valkyrianmusic.com.

Busy Busy Busy…

07/10/2011. It’s been full steam ahead over the summer, working hard on the album. Recording is complete, we’re into the production stage now, and it’s sounding great. We’re really excited as it starts to come together. We begin work on a video this weekend too…

Better yet, we’re back out on the road again this weekend – with a show at York Duchess this Saturday, The Wesley Centre, Maltby Rotherham next weekend, and then heading South for supports with Also Eden at the end of the month… All the dates here.

Can’t wait to get back on stage! Seems an age since Cambridge!

New tracks uploaded!

15/09/2011. We’ve uploaded 3 tracks to the Music page for you to play and download! These latest pre-studio versions of Lord Of The North, Those Who Watch and Let The Sleeper Awake (previously unreleased anywhere) feature Si Wright’s vocals and reflect the band in 2011.

We’re hoping to get a chance to hear how things are sounding in the studio over the weekend, before getting stuck into finishing off the recording of more songs next week. Meanwhile, enjoy! Click here.

Exciting times…

05/09/2011. A very busy week last week saw Pete and Daymo in the studio continuing the guitar work for the album, meetings to go through plans for artwork and details of the album itself. We’re really excited about the cover, it’s going to look fabulous. Gibbo has been busy too making plans for the next few months and into 2012.

More of the same this week, plus the beginning of the production work for the album, which we’re really looking forward to!

There’s exciting times ahead for MR, and we’ll announce it all as soon as we can. Stay tuned!

The show must go on…

30/08/2011. Due to circumstances beyond their control, The Reasoning have had to postpone their show in York at the Duchess on October 8th, and will reschedule for a later date.

Morpheus Rising will now take over the headline slot for this show, with supports to be announced very soon. Watch this space!

Back in the studio and yet more gigs

23/08/2011 Daymo and Pete are in the studio this week working on guitar parts for the album, and report back that it’s sounding huge! We can’t wait to hear it here at MRHQ…

We’ve also been able to confirm yet more dates to the October tour. We now kick off with a headline show at Sheffield Corporation on September 30 and support Final Conflict at The Wesley Centre, Maltby, Rotherham on October 22nd. On top of that, we’ll also be playing a short set as part of the all day show at Fibbers for York Guitar Weekend on 15 October.

October is shaping up to be a great month for MR, full info on all confirmed shows and links for tickets here.

Morpheus Rising rocks Cambridge Rock Festival 2011

10/08/2011. What a weekend! Over a hundred acts on four stages over four days, a great family atmosphere, spectacular organisation, a great bunch of people behind the scenes and a fantastic crowd, plus a little luck weather wise. The band had a blast. As Gibbo put it when we left the site on Monday morning, “That was mint!”

We arrived on Friday morning – good job we set off early as it turned out, we understand that there was a horrible hold up after a crash on the A14 and many people got held up. We’d not have made our slot on Friday afternoon if we had got caught up in that! We wish anyone hurt in the crash a speedy and complete recovery! We’d always planned to stay for the duration, and we’re really pleased we did we had such a great time all weekend, catching up with old friends, meeting new ones and enjoying the music, the atmosphere – and the beers…

We played The Classic Rock Society Stage on the Friday afternoon, following Also Eden, a band we’d heard great things about – and Pete had met Rich Harding briefly a couple of years back at a Marillion Convention in the Netherlands, so it was great to have a chance to hear the band (albeit while getting our gear set up behind the scenes). Inevitably at a festival, we had to trim the set back a little from the usual longer show, but we really enjoyed the show and the crowd seemed to enjoy it too. Morpheus Rising standard Lord of the North seemed particularly popular! Many thanks to Les and the guys who did the sound for us and on this stage all weekend – both monitors and Front of House, the onstage sound was absolutely fantastic. And out front the sound was huge from what people are saying. Thanks mate! We’ll be adding the best of the photos of the show in the coming days.

All too soon it was all over and we were heading off to build the tented village (nicknamed Morpheus Rise by Pete who’d even brought a nameplate for his tent), and crack open the first of far too many beers over the weekend. We soon found ourselves in amongst the York mafia – our neighbours were Mostly Autumn, Heather Findlay and Stolen Earth. Excellent company!

Musical highlights? Almost too many to mention… Panic Room, Mostly Autumn and Stolen Earth (ok, we admit, we’re biased, but they were great), Also Eden, Mr So & So, Credo, Kyrbgrinder, Chantal McGregor, The Quireboys… the list goes on.

Non musical highlights? Where to start? Rob and Alexis’ monster new Land Rover, meeting Chantal McGregor (who is lovely), spotting a guy with wearing last year’s Morpheus Rising Tour shirt (and finding our name on the CRF 2011 shirt), meeting all sorts of lovely people with some great comments about the show… Far too much to mention here!

We’d love to be back at CRF next year – but that’s up to you guys! Please tell Cambridge Rock Festival if you enjoyed the Morpheus Rising and want to see us again – and tell the Classic Rock Society too – they put us on the bill this year on their stage, so it’s all their fault!

We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the festival – Dave and Julia Roberts, all the organising staff, catering, stewards and festival crew, lighting and sound engineers, bar staff, stallholders, all the bands and musicians, and of course everyone who came and enjoyed the whole event. And above all, Miles Bartaby at The Classic Rock Society for giving us the opportunity to play. You guys Rock! All of you!

Morpheus Rising debut new line up at York Fibbers

02/08/2011. Last week was a big week for the band with a trip to see Iron Maiden at Manchester MEN and a chance for Pete to catch up with friends backstage, and a fantastic first show with Si at Fibbers in York, we’re all ready for Cambridge Rock Festival this weekend. Bring it on!

Gibbo, Daymo, Si and Pete went over to Manchester to see the mighty Maiden at the MEN Arena last Thursday – normally a relatively easy journey in itself, but it turned into something of an adventure when trains ground to a halt completely at Leeds due to a signal failure. Nothing was moving in either direction, so we had to resort to a taxi – there was no way we were going to miss this! It was worth it though, a great night, Iron Maiden rocked as always – one of the greatest bands of all time.

Pete and Dave Murray’s guitar tech, Colin Price have worked together at Marillion, and Colin gave him the full guided tour backstage – Eddie(s), guitar worlds, hospitality, the works. Pete can also vouch for the fact having watched their show from stage left that all of Airborne’s 12 stack guitar backline is plugged in and powered up! Old school, no dummy cabs there! Just the way we like it here at MR! Many thanks to Colin – you’re a star.

Saturday night saw the first show with the new line up at Fibbers in York. A home gig for us, it was a chance for the band to run through the set live before appearing at Cambridge Rock Festival this coming weekend. And a great night it was too, an excellent way to welcome Simon Wright to the band. Si put in a sterling debut performance and we’re all really looking forward to hitting the stage this weekend. Many thanks to all who came down to Fibbers and made it such a great night!

This week sees us gearing up for Cambridge Rock Festival. We’ll see you on the Classic Rock Society Stage at 2:35 on Friday 5th August. We’ll be staying for the whole weekend, so come and say hello!

CRF11 Warm Up Show announced

The band have added a show in York as a warm up for the Cambridge Rock Festival, at Fibbers in York on July 31st. This will be the first chance to see the new line up in action with Si Wright fronting the band, ahead of the show at Cambridge Rock festival a few days later on August 5th.

This should be a great show, being a home gig for the band – and a return to Fibbers after the final show of the old line up there at the end of May. Don’t miss this one!

Support for this show will be MöRDERSTEIN.

Morpheus Rising at Cambridge Rock Festival 2011

The band will be appearing on the Classic Rock Society stage at Cambridge Rock Festival on Friday August 5th, adding to the York based bands on this year’s roster, alongside Heather Findlay, Stolen Earth and Mostly Autumn.

With such a strong line up for this year’s CRF, the band is looking forward to a weekend of great music and great company, with the opportunity to catch Panic Room, Mr So & So, and Credo as well as the York contingent, and meet up with friends and fans from all over the country and further afield too.

Be sure to come and say hi!

Simon Wright to join Morpheus Rising

We’re pleased to announce that Simon Wright will be joining the band to fill the vacancy left by the departure of vocalist Graeme Tennick. Simon will be making his debut fronting the band at the Cambridge Rock Festival on August 5th.

Simon’s outstanding vocals with Burnwylde prompted MR drummer Gibbo to get in touch, and the rest is history. Once Simon had recorded a couple of vocals on MR tracks it was immediately apparent that his powerful and versatile vocals were a great match for MORPHEUS RISING. Simon will continue to front Burnwylde as well as MR.

In addition to the first show at Cambridge Rock Festival (see separate story), the new line up will return to the studio to continue recording the debut album, a project which was put on hold temporarily while personnel changes were completed.

Following Grae’s final shows at the Forces Festival at Double Hedges near Bulford on May 29th and York Fibbers on Bank Holiday Monday May 30th, Grae is due to head to pastures new in Kenya but will remain very much part of the team. He will continue to look after the band’s online presence, a role which he has filled behind the scenes since the band’s beginnings back in 2008.
